Nikko

Nikko, situated about 2.5h from Tokyo, is another good alternative for a weekend trip from the capital. One of the main points to go to come here was to enjoy the nature of this area. We had on mind doing a hike like the Mt. Nyoho or the Mt. Nantai. However, the weather had another plans for us as it kept drizzling the whole weekend. Besides the nature, Nikko is famous by its temples so we got our raincoats and went for a temple hunting.

Which such weather I didn’t really take many pictures but with these few you can have an idea on what you can find here

Not far from the temples area there is another interesting building: the Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa . Special mention to the traditional Japanese circular window (aka Marumado)

There is another couple of touristic points that you don’t wanna miss:  The Shinkyo Bridge & The Kegon Falls

These falls (and I’d say Nikko in general) are pretty popular in Autumn as all the tress get dressed with beautiful colors which inevitably attracts hordes of visitors. And that was all, a short post as the weather didn’t really allow us to do much more…the hikes are pending for a future visit 😉
